Global Resort Homes-a Home Away from Home While Visiting Disney.#GlobalResorthomes

Global-homesWe just returned from an amazing trip to Florida. Renting a home was something I had never really thought about, but this past week my family and I had the pleasure of staying at 2610 Bowring St. in Kissimmee, Florida thanks to Global Resort Homes. It is located in the Windsor Hills gated community in Kissimmee, just minutes from Orlando, 2.5 km from the Disney gates and just as close for many of the other major attractions.

We arrived late in the evening, but the whole key access code pickup was so easy and went smoothly, even checking through the Gatehouse security was easy and the security guards were very friendly and helpful.  They were always ready with a big smile whenever I went through the gatehouse.

On first impressions, the house was spectacular- the photos on the site just did not do it justice.

The house itself is a beautifully designed four bedroom, four bath home with a lovely gourmet kitchen that has a  breakfast bar and eating eating area. It also has another separate dining area as well [for families that are bigger and need more space].  Three of  the bedrooms had an ensuite; which my daughter absolutely loved, her room became her getaway place! There is also a private swimming pool and spa which are both completely screened in, as is the entire patio area.  This was a huge plus for me as I am allergic to a few flying insects and could just enjoy sitting outside without worry and having to keep my eye on my Epi- pen!

The kitchen area

The kitchen is completely outfitted, so it was easy to find the things that I needed when cooking and it had beautiful stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops to use. An advantage of traveling this way is that I have control over the food preparation; something that is important when you have any allergies or sensitivities. We were able to make wonderful meals without the risk of cross-contamination…not to mention it is a lot less expensive being able to prepare your meals than going out to dinner.  We enjoyed BBQ’s almost every night and we were even able to do some baking! Nothing better than freshly baked cookies to take along as snacks on our outings!

The pool

One of the best parts of the house, along with the kitchen is the pool and spa area where we spent a lot a lot of our time; either just sitting outside on the patio, in the pool just playing or  relaxing in the amazing spa!  It was wonderful to step into the heated spa after getting back from the parks and just relax the aches away; the pool was always at the perfect temperature. I loved having my coffee out there in the mornings, it was such a treat and so quiet! Plus, as I mentioned earlier, it was screened in and there were no bugs!

More great features

Although we did spend a fair bit of time in the pool area, we did manage to get into the games room for a few matches of air hockey and a game of pool.  We also watched a movie the first night we were there but didn’t get a chance to watch any more later, even though there are TVs located in every room. I loved the convenience of having the laundry room- we were able to pack less, and I didn’t come home with loads of dirty laundry to  do!

Global resort homes also offers rental of strollers & playpens etc, so you don’t have to worry about lugging all that stuff on your travels.  This home actually had a playpen that was for the use of the guests if needed.

The community itself is so close to all the major attractions – it never really took more than 15-20 minutes to get to Universal, Sea World or Disney.  You can either drive the short distance to the parks or take the shuttle from the Clubhouse if you prefer. We decided to drive, parking was very easy and we could leave the park whenever we wanted to. All the outlet malls were located very close by as well, no more than 20 minutes, so shopping was very [too] convenient!

There were several stores located within a 15 minute drive for groceries.  I found that I really liked the Publix store as it seemed to have the best options for us. There was a Target, Walmart and a Walgreens within 5 minutes of each other as well.

When staying with Global Resort Homes, you also get access to their partners – Kissimmee Guest Services, great for the attraction tickets as they offer great discounts to Global Resort guests.

Community features

Windsor Hills is one of the most sought after resort communities and features a secure gated entrance with huge lagoon style heated pool with waterslide, private HD cinema theater, games room, arcade room, fully-equipped gym, BBQ areas, massive clubhouse, and on-site convenience store, parks, putting green, children’s playground, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts and more. So if you want to take a day off from going to the parks, you can stay in the community as there is a lot to do! They even have Zumba classes!

Having to say goodbye

This really was a home away from home…we didn’t want to leave! The parks were great, and we thoroughly enjoyed them… but I think just having the privacy of our own space and being able to really kick back and not worry about cross contamination was the best part of it all. This is the perfect option for families who want to travel together, they have larger homes with more bedrooms that can accommodate  2 or more families so it  works well for the family get together in Florida over the holidays or over the winter.  You can have a great time together but you have your own space [bedroom] so you are not on top of each other.   We will definitely be going back there!

*Disclosure: I received a complimentary stay with Global Resort Homes, however all opinions reflected on this blog post are my own.
