Truth be told, I have never really made much money off of MOMentumNation. I have more than a full time job and as everyone who blogs will tell you, a blog takes a lot of time, focus, alternate channels and more to really become something big. But there have been many things this blog has led to have been priceless.
Recently I into two women in two different circumstances who said they have this passion for writing and that they had been toying with the idea of writing a blog. The first woman was getting up in the morning and writing but everything she wrote for left on her computer where only she could read them. Her voice was being stifled! I told her if she wanted to write for MOMentum she could and she could see if she liked it.
The second woman I met at a cocktail party–a business function. She said she had always wanted to write a blog but had never gotten around to it. I told the second woman if she wanted a place to write, she could write for MOMentumNation. I told them she could try blogging it without all of the extra work of building a site, learning SEO, how to tag, find photos or any of the work that goes into creating and working at getting views for your blog. I also told them I would introduce them to an incredible group of women who write for MOMentumNation. A group of women who share stories, commiserate, and just have fun chatting together.
So if you are thinking about writing a blog, here’s some inspiration.
Writing truly feeds your soul.
When you reach a certain age, you feel you have things you can share so writing a blog gives you an opportunity to do just that.
Writing a blog will connect you to like-minded women. It’s always great to meet others and know that you’re not the only one.
I like to think I’m leaving digital footprint for my daughter. I wish my own mother had written a blog so that I might know her better. So that I might know what she felt, or what she’s thinking, or think she cared about. Sure I talked to my mom just about every day on the phone but we talk about the weather and with the kids are doing mundane kind of every day things. We don’t talk about deep feelings or convictions really.
Writing a blog can be cathartic. Blog can be a great way to get things off your chest. Or state your opinion on something. To feel like you’re being listened to. And as a working mom, we all know that sometimes that’s the last thing you feel.
Writing a blog also helps you hone your writing skills. The more you write and the longer you’re right, the better you get and easier to gets to write.
And it’s thrilling, when someone comments on your blog post. It’s validation that you exist and that someone heard you.
No wonder, a blog truly feeds your soul.
