Now you can with Shuttersong, a free app that allows you to add 15 seconds of sound to any jpg. Simply snap any photo and then add your voice or music to the jpg. The app is so simple to use, there is no explanation within the app.
The Shuttersongs you create can be shared simply on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, email and SMS. And anyone can view a Shuttersong, there’s no app required for activating a Shuttersong photo.
I instantly thought of all the photos I have where I can’t remember where they were shot or often the names of the people in them. With this app, I could easily record that info and embed it in the jpg.
My daughter could add sound to her selfies. What is it with the whole concept of selfies?
“Shuttersong uniquely fills the white space between three exploding trends: shareable photography, short-form video and sound,” said Shuttersong founder and CEO, William Agush. “Using patent-pending technology, we’ve accomplished what no-one else has been able to do: creating single JPEG files that combine high-quality photographic images with sound. The enthusiasm and creativity of our beta testing community has been amazing and the feedback from digital agencies and brands that see the potential for campaigns and user-generated content has been overwhelming.”
So far more than 3,000 Shuttersongs have already been created and shared by beta testers.
If you’re into Instagram, you’ll miss the ability to crop and add filters to your photos within the app, but you can take the photo in Instagram then pull it into Shuttersong to add audio.
Shuttersong was founded by marketing veteran William Agush who was inspired by a “talking photo frame” that played the toddler voice of his now-adult son. By bringing together a team of business, marketing and technical experts, Shuttersong was formed and backed by a group of financial investors that recognized the app’s potential. Shuttersong’s advisory board includes executives from AOL, Brilig/Merkle, Constant Contact, DART DoubleClick, HighStart Group, Ideeli, iPlay Microtouch, Snickleways and Yellow Pages. Shuttersong is based in Wellesley, MA.
